For high horsepower applications exceeding the 200hp mark, we recommend using ARP head studs. When revving your engine up to 8,000rpm and on, your engine is at a stress point. Often, the factory cylinder head bolts weaken at this point and have a tendency to stretch under the high heat temperature and stress. ARP head studs are thread rolled after heat treating, which gives them about 1000% (that’s ten times) better fatigue strength than those studs that are threaded prior to heat treating. All clamping forces are on the axis. By the same token, there is less force exerted on the block threads, which contributes to improved block life (very critical on aluminum blocks). Last but not least, ARP head studs make it much easier to assemble an engine with the cylinder head and gasket assured of proper alignment.A
